Position: Associate Pastor
Position Status: Full-Time
Reports to: Senior Pastor
Purpose
The Associate Pastor will work alongside the Senior Pastor to provide pastoral care to the church congregation. They will assist the Senior Pastor as needed for preaching, teaching, visitation and outreach while overseeing the development and execution of a ministry to students (6th-12th grades) and a ministry of adult discipleship.
Key Responsibilities
60% Student Ministry:
- Provide age-appropriate biblical teaching to students that addresses relevant topics and fosters discussion and engagement.
- Plan and execute student-focused activities, events and programs that foster a culture of service, fellowship and outreach that encourages deeper relationships with one another and with Christ.
- Build healthy relationships with students and parents. Serve as a mentor, helping them grow in their relationship with Christ. This may involve outreach beyond church sponsored events. Identify and nurture potential student leaders.
- Recruit, equip and oversee adult volunteers to assist with student ministry programs.
- Develop, manage and monitor the annual budget for the student program as well as any fundraising efforts needed to support student events.
30% Adult Discipleship
- Oversee the organization, development and growth of adult discipleship opportunities such as bible studies and small groups.
- Develop strategies for growing and multiplying opportunities for adult discipleship that ensure a welcoming and nurturing environment for discipleship and community
- Recruit, train and support biblical leaders to effectively lead their groups in spiritual growth and fellowship. Provide ongoing support for leaders as needed.
- Develop, manage and monitor the annual budget for adult discipleship ministries.
10% General Ministry
- Work with the Senior Pastor and ministry teams to ensure alignment with the church’s vision and mission.
- Attend Church Council and Staff meetings.
Preach fill-in Sunday sermons and perform visitations as assigned by the Senior Pastor. - Provide biblical counseling as needed to families, students and as assigned.
- Administrative duties: Manage schedules, communication and administrative tasks related to student ministry, discipleship or as assigned by the Senior Pastor. Practice good stewardship of funds, time and resources.
Qualifications
Education:
- Bachelor Degree from an accredited four-year college or university.
- Seminary degree or pursuit of a seminary degree is preferred.
- Willingness to seek additional education through degree programs, workshops, seminars, or conferences.
Skills:
- Background in Biblical teaching/speaking preferred.
- Ability to lead and communicate effectively with diverse age groups and backgrounds.
- Four or more years’ experience in a paid position in student ministry preferred, or prior experience in a volunteer capacity.

- Maintains a growing relationship with God.
- Experienced a personal sense of God’s call to vocational Christian ministry.
- Commitment to moral purity and the mission, vision, and ministry philosophy of NHBC.
- Commitment to the NHBC Statement of Faith, Ethics Statement, and Membership Covenant.
- Desires a Spirit-led life that exemplifies 1 Timothy 3:1-7 and Titus 1:5-9 and a willing spirit in the life-long pursuit of sanctification
Compensation
The starting salary for this position is $55,000 annually, commensurate upon education and experience.
